The course is for learners who have non or very little experience of watercolour painting. The course will be structured and tutor led and focus on working from a set of objects to gain a very good grounding in observational drawing and painting.
Students will learn from a ‘set up’ arranged by the tutor to work from. Start the planning the arrangement/composition. Students will learn how to hold, use and manipulate the materials, scale up, assess proportions by using measuring systems working from observation. Observing, looking at consistancies; understand and apply washes and properties of individual pigments. Methods of stretching paper will be covered.
Pencil grades- H, H.B. White plastic rubber, A4 Bockingford watercolour sketchbook, pencil sharpener, 12” ruler, note pad. Basic watercolour palette. Tubes OR Half pans–Lemon Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Cereleum Blue (Coereleum Blue), Sap Green, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber. A 12mm thickness plywood drawing board.
Masking tape and Gum strip self adhesive paper tape (office supplies maybe better to purchase this product).
